Social anxiety at school

Dealing with Social Anxiety at School

have you ever felt nervous to speak in class?
Like… your heart beats fast, your face gets hot, and you think,
What if I say something stupid?
This is what social anxiety feels like. And it’s more common than you think — especially at school.

What Social Anxiety Feels Like

When I have social anxiety, I feel:

•My hands sweating

•My voice shaking

•Scared to talk in front of people

•Nervous to even say “hi” sometimes

For example, when the teacher asks me to read a text in class, my hand shakes, my face gets red, it becomes hard to breathe, my voice shakes, and I even stutter. Actually, just thinking about standing up causes the same feelings in me.

Why Do We Feel This Way?

There are many reasons:

•We worry about what others think

•We don’t want to look “weird” or “wrong”

•Maybe something embarrassing happened before

•Or we just feel shy around people

And that’s okay. Everyone feels like this sometimes.

Ways to Cope

Deep breathing exercises: Before going into a crowd, try the 4-4-4 method (breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, breathe out for 4 seconds).

Small steps: Start by saying “good morning” to one person every day.

Be kind to yourself: Instead of judging yourself, say “I’m not the only one who feels this way.”

Be prepared: Think about what you will say in advance and take notes.

Reprogram your mind: Change your thoughts with positive sentences like “Everyone is focused on their own life,” instead of “Everyone is looking at me.”

You’re Not Alone💗

Social anxiety is not easy, but step by step, it can get better.
You don’t need to be loud to be brave.
Even small actions are a big win.

And remember: You are not the only one.
